Strengthening Digital Health Through Knowledge Sharing at MUHAS

Soft-Tech Consultants is proud to have contributed to the MSc in Digital Health programme at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), supporting an important initiative focused on developing the next generation of digital health professionals in Tanzania.
The programme, led by the MUHAS Digital Health and Innovation Alliance, brings together academic expertise and industry experience to explore some of the most critical issues shaping modern healthcare technology.
As part of the 2025/2026 academic programme, students engaged with visiting and industry facilitators across key areas including health data protection, privacy, cybersecurity, digital forensics, artificial intelligence, blockchain and data governance.
Among the contributing facilitators were:
Prof. Joseph Ferenbok, PhD, who shared insights into Health Data Protection and Privacy, as well as Blockchain.
Dr. Wilbard Nyamwihula, PhD, who explored Digital Forensics, Cybersecurity and AI Applications.
Mr. Harish Bhatt, who contributed perspectives on security, privacy and the often unseen digital infrastructure that supports effective healthcare, including data governance in the age of artificial intelligence.
The sessions were moderated by Dr. Felix Sukums, PhD and Mr. Junior Kaskazi, helping create an engaging environment for discussion, knowledge exchange and practical learning.
Building trusted and resilient digital health systems
As healthcare becomes increasingly dependent on connected technologies and data-driven systems, disciplines such as information security, privacy, governance and cybersecurity are becoming fundamental to the delivery of trusted digital health services.
The programme provides an important platform for students to engage directly with practitioners and specialists working across these fields, connecting academic learning with practical challenges and emerging technologies.
For Soft-Tech Consultants, contributing to initiatives such as this reflects a broader commitment to knowledge sharing, innovation and the development of stronger digital ecosystems across Africa.
We are honoured to be recognised alongside fellow facilitators supporting the MSc in Digital Health and congratulate the MUHAS Digital Health and Innovation Alliance on developing a programme that strengthens collaboration between academia and industry.
We also extend our appreciation to Dr. Felix Sukums and Junior Kaskazi for facilitating and supporting these valuable engagements.
Through continued collaboration, knowledge exchange and investment in digital skills, initiatives such as the MSc in Digital Health can play an important role in building safer, smarter and more resilient health systems in Tanzania and beyond.
